Para Worldcup Ski Alpine 2010: Abtenau is something very special!

Sportunion Abtenau is a guarantor for professional nordic and alpine ski events. There are international europe and worldcup events for partially sighted and physically handicaped, which already take place the third time in Abtenau. In 2010 it has been the 5th worldcup week taking place in Abtenau. This year it was a very low – snow winter, but nevertheless Abtenau’s lifting association gave perfect conditions to all the athlets. Another positive aspect of the Worldcup in Abtenau was the very good infrastucture, athlets could easily get in the lifts. All the facilities in Abtenau are handicaped accessible. Moreover all the team hotels are near the racing slopes. Moreover it’s necessary to mention that there’s a general program of the Worldcup of the disabled, which takes place at the marketplace in Abtenau.

It’s the good work of the Sportunion Abtenau, local community and tourism agency which guarantee an event in such a way. The Sportunion has experienced members in the OK team, who are responsible for the best possible event. Furthermore it’s important to say that there are many volunteers, who helped to have a perfect event. Many of them ask to apply for leave from their job, so during the whole week 300 helpers were involved. The positive atmosphere of all the participants have also very good influence to the athlets. Das IPC – Internationale Paralympic Committee, FIS, Federation International Skiing and teamleaders of all nations know that Abtenau is doing a great job.

But also the co-operation between the host cities Kühtai - Pitztal, Rinn – Patscherkofel and Abtenau under the leadership of Michael Knaus seems to be a very positive effect. All these cities give their experiences to each other and so they can advance themselves. It’s very important that the host cities become better all the time, because all the athlets do the same too. In 2012 the Worlcup of the disabled will take place in Abtenau again, we hope to see you again and wish you a great time since this time.
